Registration for upcoming Orxa Mantis high-performance e-bike begins on track day

Orxa Energies is set to launch another high-performance electric motorcycle in Bengaluru, the company has announced that it has started accepting customer registrations for the Mantis electric motorcycle. Track days are scheduled to begin in Bengaluru in the first quarter of 2023, with the country’s “major cities” to follow. The startup plans to demonstrate the bike’s capabilities through track days ahead of its launch later next year.

Speaking of track days, Orxa Energies co-founder Dr Prajwal Sabnis said: “Since the Mantis debuted at IBW in 2019, the bike has had a number of rides to validate its performance. Commenting on the upcoming product, Ranjita Ravi, Co-Founder of Orxa Energies said: “It is the constant feedback from riders that has helped us learn, develop and make Mantis ‘market ready’. The Orxa Mantis high-performance electric motorcycle made its public debut in 2019 at the Indian Bike Week annual motorcycle festival. The model promises a range of 200km on a single charge from a 9 kWh battery pack, while a liquid-cooled electric motor promises 28 kW (37.5 bhp) with drive-by-wire built in. The model will be a rival to the newly launched Ultraviolet F77, also from Bengaluru, and also competes with the Tork Kratos in the segment.

To demonstrate the long-term reliability of the Mantis, Orxa Energies completed a 13,510km tour of India in 54 days, called “Electric Bharatmala”. The model broke the previous record of 12,379 kilometers traveled by electric motorcycles. The two motorcycles set out to break records, crossing 20 states and two federal territories, traversing varying terrain and temperatures.

In addition to the new vertical electric motorcycle, Orxa Energies is also working with early battery developers and recycling startups in other areas such as energy systems and advanced control systems. It also works with major companies in the aerospace, defense and automotive industries. Mantis is said to be a culmination of the startup’s learnings in different industries.
