Remember the MG Cyberster electric roadster that debuted in concept form in 2020? The British automaker, owned by SAIC, also teased the electric sports car in 2022, but has not heard from it since. Now, however, a document submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has revealed all that, giving us our best look yet at the upcoming roadster. Apart from that, the document also revealed many technical details about the upcoming car.
The MG Cyberster EV promises a top speed of 200km/h. The electric motor mounted on the front axle will produce a peak power of 201 horsepower, while the electric motor mounted on the rear axle will be able to output a maximum power of 335 horsepower. The specs for the battery-electric powertrain are impressive. However, the document did not reveal any other details on the size of the battery.

Speaking of physical dimensions, the MG Cyberster EV measures 4,535mm long, 1,913mm wide and 1,329mm tall. The purely electric sports car has a wheelbase of 2,690 millimetres. Those size figures make the MG Cyberster a bit larger than the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Apart from revealing dimensional figures, the document also states that the MG Cyberster has a curb weight of 1,985kg.
The iconic British car brand is known for its famous roadsters such as the T-Series, MGA, MGB, and even the F in the 1990s. Aside from its two-seater configuration and convertible appeal, the MG Cyberster doesn’t draw any specific styling references from its classic models. However, the upcoming MG Cyberster is expected to carry on that tradition and feature an all-electric model. In terms of design, the outgoing sports car features sharp and well-defined creases that flow across the arched hood and into the doors. In addition to giving the car an attractive appearance, these lines also improve aerodynamic efficiency.
