River Indie electric scooter launched in India at Rs 1.25 lakh

Talking about the design, the River Indie has a distinctive front fascia compared to other cars on the market. It features dual front LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. It also features a fully digital 6-inch color instrument cluster, roomy 20-inch pedals and LED taillights. It runs on 14-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in fat tires. 240mm disc brakes are used at the front, while 200mm disc brakes are used at the rear. For suspension duties, the scooter has a telescopic unit at the front and a dual hydraulic system at the rear.

Interestingly, the scooter’s 770mm seat height and 14-inch wheels make it somewhat similar to the Yamaha Aerox and Aprilia SR160. It also has a claimed 18-degree climbing ability, which is more than the Ola S1 Pro, which can ride 15-degree slopes.

The EV startup claims the River Indie has 43 liters of under-seat boot space and a 12-liter glove box. It also claims to have a number of accessories to choose from for easy installation. These include pannier brackets and bag hooks on both sides. The scooter comes with parking assist, dual USB ports, and more.

In terms of powertrain, the River Indie draws energy from an IP67-rated 4 kWh battery pack that powers a 6.7 kWh electric motor that produces 26 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a belt drive, propelling the EV from 0-40 km/h in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 90 km/h. The scooter can travel 120 kilometers on a single charge. The manufacturer also claims that the scooter comes with a five-year/50,000km warranty.
