Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch a new generation of Himalayan motorcycles in India. A more powerful version of the existing Himalayan adventure motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year. The new Himalayan 450 motorcycle will be launched this year and it will be the biggest model from the manufacturer. Ahead of its launch, it was field-tested on Indian roads. It also gives a good sense of how the exhaust note sounds.

A video of one of the test mules was recently shared on social media, where the new generation Himalayan 450 can be seen stuck in traffic. The video also does a good job of hearing the new motorcycle’s exhaust note, which sounds slightly softer than the current model.

The Himalaya 450 will be powered by a new liquid-cooled 450 cc engine that produces 40-45 bhp of power and 40 Nm of peak torque. It is expected to be more powerful than some rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure and Yezdi Adventure motorcycles. For example, the KTM competitor is capable of producing 44 horsepower and 37 Nm of torque. The new-generation Himalaya is expected to come with a six-speed gearbox. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is currently sold with a 411 cc engine producing around 25 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque.

The exterior of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle retains some of its character. These features will include LED headlights, brake light turn indicators, a taller windshield, split seats and a new fuel tank. The suspension settings have also been tweaked. It has also been confirmed that Royal Enfield will sell the Himalayan 450 with tubeless spoked rims. The Himalaya 450 will also ride on the same 21-inch front and 17-inch rear rim sizes with dual-purpose tires.

Expect the price of the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle to be significantly higher than the 411 model currently on sale.Available models are priced at ¥206,000 (ex-showroom).The price of the new generation of motorcycles is likely to be in the north ¥250,000 (ex-showroom).
