Harley-Davidson X 500 officially landed in the Chinese market. It sits above the X 350 in the series launched in March. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the X 350 and X 500, most of which have now been clarified. It looks like neither of these motorcycles will make it to the Indian market. Instead, Harley-Davidson will unveil a new motorcycle co-developed with Hero MotoCorp.
Design-wise, the X 500 looks like a bigger version of the X 350 and a smaller version of the XR1200X. The lighting elements on motorcycles are LEDs. The instrument cluster on motorcycles is a monopod digital unit.
The Harley-Davidson X 500 shares its underpinnings with the Benelli Leoncino 500. As such, it uses the same 500 cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. It puts out 47 bhp and 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

The frame is also the same steel tube frame, with the front suspended by 50mm upper and lower wishbones with adjustable rebound, while the rear is an offset monoshock with adjustable rebound and preload. Braking duties are performed by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. The front calipers have four pistons, while the rear calipers have only one piston.

In terms of size, the X 500 should feel very compact. It measures 2,135mm in length and has a wheelbase of 1,458mm. The seat height is 820mm and the ground clearance is 153mm. The ex-factory weight of the motorcycle is 199 kg, while the fuel tank holds 13 litres. The X 500 rolls on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Maxxis Supermaxx ST tires. The front tires measure 120/70, while the rear tires measure 160/60.
