Chennai-based manufacturer Royal Enfield has recently started deliveries of their new flagship, the Super Meteor 650. This is the third 650 cc model after the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650. The brand is also developing another 650 cc model which will be in the Shotgun 650. Shotgun’s product positioning is currently unclear. However, the new model is expected to be their new flagship.
Now, a Shotgun 650 has been spotted near the Royal Enfield factory. A concept version of the Shotgun 650 was shown at EICMA 2021. It’s called the SG650, and it’s a buoy. Now, the test mule has also been spotted with a rear seat.
There are several changes between Shotgun 650 and Super Meteor 650. The first change is the footpeg positioning. The Super Meteor 650 is a cruiser with the pedals forward, while the Shotgun 650 is centered.

The motorcycle also has a different exhaust design, they’re inspired by peashooters and sound harsher than the units on the Super Meteor 650. Another thing that can be noticed is the different armrest design. The fenders on the motorcycle also look slightly different. The handlebar is also different, it’s wider and lower than the one on the Super Meteor 650.
The headlights are the same LED units as on the Super Meteor 650, new Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. However, it appears the headlamps will have a fairing. The instrument cluster will be taken from the Super Meteor 650. Therefore, a Tripper Navigation system will also be provided. A wide range of original accessories will also be available.

The engine on duty is the same as the other 650s. So, it’s a 648 cc air-oil cooled engine producing 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque. The duty transmission is a 6-speed unit with slipper and auxiliary clutches. Royal Enfield may have retuned the engine to suit the Shotgun 650’s characteristics.
