Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has opened a new manufacturing facility – Simple Vision 1.0 – in Sholagiri, Tamil Nadu. The new facility occupies more than 100,000 square feet. It will also be the production base for the brand’s One electric scooter. Originally unveiled in 2021, the Simple One electric scooter will soon go into production at the new factory, with deliveries starting later this year.
Invest in Simple Vision 1.0 manufacturing plant ¥1 billion, with an annual installed capacity of 1 million units. The company said the plant could employ more than 700 people on the final assembly line, electric motor manufacturing, battery manufacturing, in-house vehicle testing facility and more.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new facility, Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy said, “We started this journey four years ago and are now one step closer to production and delivery. Simple’s first plant in Sholagiri, Tamil Nadu The inauguration of a manufacturing facility is a stepping stone for future expansion plans. Having the right and experienced people on hand points us to the right path to formulate the best R&D strategy and establish a fully equipped factory to start producing Simple One e-scooters.”
The Simple One electric scooter is a competitor to the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, and others. Pre-orders for the product began in August 2021, while a production-spec version was released last year. That said, the company said safety-related delays pushed back the launch date of the One electric scooter.

Simple Energy says its facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art final assembly line. The facility also houses the country’s first in-house electric motor production line as well as battery production lines and battery storage facilities. The manufacturing plant will also house a customer acceptance line and an in-house vehicle testing facility.
