Electric vehicle startup Simple Energy announced Tuesday that it will start producing its flagship One electric scooter in January. It also announced the inauguration of its first state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Simple Vision 1.0, which will begin operations on January 19. Currently, the factory is undergoing trial production before Simple Energy will commission production of the Simple One electric scooter ahead of its commercial launch and delivery.
Simple Vision is located in Sholagiri, Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an initial investment of more than 1 billion, covers an area of 200,000 square feet, and has an annual production capacity of up to 1 million units. The factory follows Industry 4.0 standards and the company has designed a motor production line to manufacture its own proprietary motors, the first of its kind. Simple Energy claims the plant will also be one of the safest manufacturing units in the country.

The factory will also provide employment to more than 700 workers in and around Hosur. “We’ve officially moved from plan to execution, prototype to production, and dream to reality. These efforts are now forming a larger vision, Simple Vision 1.0,” said Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy.
The Simple One e-scooter claims to offer a range of 236 kilometers under ideal conditions, but the introduction of an additional 1.6 kWh battery pack further increases that figure. This battery can be stored in the trunk of the electric scooter, which adds to the convenience.
The Simple One electric scooter will be equipped with an upgraded 8.5 kW motor that produces 72 Nm of torque. It offers fast charging options, 30 liters of boot space and a host of smart features such as on-board navigation, ride modes, phone apps, call and music controls and more.
