Simple One electric scooter with 212km range launched, priced from Rs 1.45 lakh

Simple One electric scooter deliveries will start on June 6, 2023 in Bengaluru. The manufacturer plans to deliver the electric scooters in stages. The One features a 5 kWh battery pack, which is slightly larger than the previously announced 4.8 kWh pack. The battery promises a seven-layer protection system with an in-house developed battery management system (BMS) and IP-67 compliance. The company explained that in order to meet the AIS 156 amendment announced last year, the battery size had to be increased.

The Simple One has a range of 212 km (IDC) on a single charge. The company previously claimed a range of 236 kilometers on a single charge. Despite this, the model still maintains the label with the longest range of domestic electric scooters.

After all the changes, the Simple One now weighs 134kg, an increase compared to the prototype shown for the first time. Performance figures don’t drop, though the Simple One is capable of sprinting from 0-40 kmph in 2.77 seconds with a top speed of 105 kmph. The One features a digital instrument console with the open-source Android operating system and is loaded with telematics, ride statistics, Bluetooth connectivity, OTA updates and more.

Starting in September, the electric scooter can be charged from 0-80% in 5 hours and 54 minutes using a 750-watt home charger. There’s also fast charging, which can recharge the battery at a rate of 1.5 kilometers per minute.The company will offer electric scooters

The Simple One electric scooter is available in six colors – Brazen Black, Namma Red, Grace White and Azure Blue – and the newly added two-tone Brazen X and Light X. The new One features the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, Vida V1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube in this segment.

Simple One is being built at the company’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The model is 95% localized and only batteries are imported. The Simple Vision 1.0 production plant complies with Industry 4.0 standards and manufactures batteries and electric motors in addition to final assembly. The facility has an annual capacity of 300,000 units per year, operating in two shifts.

The One e-scooters are already available for pre-orders, and Simple Energy has been working on building brick-and-mortar service stations from the start. Customers can book services on the mobile app for a seamless digital process.
