Skoda Enyaq iV electric SUV confirmed for India, will arrive in next fiscal

Skoda Auto India will start its electric mobility journey with the launch of the Enyaq iV electric SUV in the next financial year (2023-24). Skoda Auto India Sales and Marketing Director Petr Solc confirmed the development in a recent conversation with the media. The Enyaq iV is the brand’s first electric offering globally.

Petr Solc said in an interview with the media: “Enyaq is Skoda’s first electric model worldwide. We hope that India will be the next market for Skoda to launch Enyaq. fiscal year) to launch it.”

The Skoda Enyaq iV is produced at the automaker’s main plant in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, and is exported to various markets around the world. The model will enter the Indian market from the same facility as the complete build unit (CBU).Asked about plans to assemble Enyaq locally, Solc commented that the company “want to test demand and if demand is high, we can consider next steps [including local assembly]”

Launched globally in 2021, the Skoda Enyaq iV has been spotted testing in India several times over the past year. The model has been under evaluation in India for some time. The all-electric offering features a black trapezoidal grille with closed vents, 19-inch aerodynamic Proteus alloy wheels and a sharply styled rear profile. The Enyaq is slightly larger than the Kodiaq in the company’s lineup and is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, which underpins many of the group’s new electric vehicles under the brand.

The Enyaq iV’s cabin packs in front of functionality, and you also get more luxurious lounge trim for a more premium look. Highlights include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital cockpit with a head-up display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, a sunroof, and more.

The Skoda Enyaq iV is expected to feature a 77 kWh battery pack that will power two electric motors. The PMS unit promises a combined output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque. The battery promises a range of 545 km on a single charge (WLTIP cycle). Globally, there’s also the more powerful Enyaq Coupe RS iV 80x variant, delivering 295 bhp and 460 Nm of peak torque. The Enyaq iV is expected to sell for approximately ¥Priced at Rs 6-7 lakh (ex-showroom) upon arrival, it will compete with the Kia EV6 in the same price range.
