Tata Motors announced on Thursday that it has reached a new milestone by delivering its 50,000th electric vehicle. The specific model is the Tata Nexon EV, which was delivered to N Chandrasekaran, chairman of the Tata Group. The local car brand has announced the news on its social media platforms. The automaker currently sells three different EVs in India, namely Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV. Nexon comes in two different variants, Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime.
The Nexon EV is the automaker’s best-selling electric vehicle. Moreover, it is also the best-selling EV in India, competing with rivals such as MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV. The upcoming Mahindra XUV400 is also in the same segment. The Tata Nexon EV has helped the automaker grab the lion’s share of the electric vehicle market in India, which has been growing rapidly over the past few years.

Thanks to the 40.5 kWh battery pack, the Tata Nexon EV Max promises a range of 437 km on a single charge. Introduced earlier in May this year, the Nexon EV Max aims to increase the power and range of the popular electric compact SUV.The price of an electric car is between ¥1.774 million and ¥1.924 million (ex-showroom). This is the high-end variant of the Nexon EV, while the low-end variant is the Nexon EV Prime.
After witnessing the success of the Nexon EV, Tata Motors has also launched the Tigor EV and Tiago EV, which are designed to be internal combustion engine-powered versions of the compact sedan and hatchback. Tiago EV and Tigor EV are currently two of the most affordable electric vehicles in India.
