Tata Motors will take the wraps off the Nexon EV Max Dark Edition today (17 April). Ahead of its official launch later in the day, the automaker has teased some elements of the upcoming special edition of India’s best-selling EV. In a new teaser video, it shows the Nexon EV Max wrapped in an all-black theme, with blacked-out wheels and a black interior. It’s the automaker’s fourth vehicle to get a dark version, following the Nexon, Harrier and Safari SUVs.
Tata’s Nexon EV Max electric SUV is essentially a long-range version of the standard Nexon EV. Launched last year, the Nexon EV Max can travel 453 kilometers on a single charge. A dark version of the electric SUV will only be offered with the XZ+ Lux. Tata will also give customers the option to drive home with a 7.2 kW AC wall charger. Like most other technical aspects of the electric SUV, the 40.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack will remain the same. It will continue to get three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. It will also have four levels of multi-mode regeneration to protect the battery. The electric motor produces 141 bhp and 250 Nm.
The Nexon EV Max Dark Edition will feature an exterior color scheme called Midnight Black. The alloy wheels are anthracite gray. The electric SUV will also feature a shark fin antenna and roof rails.
The interior will be finished in a dark theme with piano black fascia and triple arrow elements. It will feature a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and other upgrades. The interior now features dark-themed leatherette. The seats feature blue stitching highlights and triple arrow perforations. Additionally, the steering wheel is wrapped in blue stitched leather and the control knobs have a jeweled finish.
Tata Motors may add new features such as ventilated seats and a power sunroof to a special edition of its Nexon EV Max electric SUV.Expect Tata Nexon EV Max Dark Edition to cost at least $1,000 ¥100,000 more than the standard EV Max version.
