As electrification becomes more prevalent in the automotive sector, the EV conversion rate for hearses is also on the rise. The latest example comes in the form of a Tesla Model 3, which has been converted into a funeral van. Netherlands-based car customization company Derks Uitvaartmobiliteit has turned a Tesla Model 3 into a hearse for their latest project. Available to order in the European market, the all-electric hearse features a stretched body, a lighted area for the coffin and special storage compartments. Plus, it comes with an optional star roofline on the back. The company calls it the Tesla Hearse 3 and claims a range of 375 kilometers on a single charge.
Turning to the technical aspects of the vehicle, the stock Tesla Model 3 required a lot of cutting and wheelbase stretching. Dimensionally, the single-cab electric hearse measures 5,560mm in length, which is 866mm longer than a standard Tesla Model 3 sedan. The only parts carried over from the stock Model 3 are the front profile, front doors, mirror caps, LED lighting and bumper. The vehicle’s roof has been aerodynamically extended, turning the all-electric compact sedan into a gigantic estate with massive glass surfaces and a custom tailgate. It has two additional half doors that allow access to additional storage compartments.

Inside the hearse, the custom firm added partition walls with windows. It also gets motorized shades on the side and rear windows for extra privacy. An optional feature inside the hearse is a starry sky roofline with different colored LEDs to match the illuminated side walls. Additional accessory options for the vehicle include an expandable stainless steel planter and an underfloor drawer for a scissor trolley or care box.
The Tesla Hearse 3 is based on the Model 3 Standard Range Plus. It has an electric motor mounted on the rear axle that produces 306 PS with the help of a 53 kWh battery pack.
