The BMW i5 has been causing quite a stir as the brand’s flagship product in the EV space. The all-electric version of the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan, which was launched globally, is expected to be launched in India next year after production of the electric vehicle begins at the automaker’s factory in Dingolfing, Germany, which happens to be the automaker’s largest production facility in Europe.

The mid-size electric sedan sits between the i4 and i7 in BMW’s all-electric portfolio. The BMW i5 sedan will be sold alongside the identical but gasoline-powered 5 Series sedan. Speaking of the i5, it adopts the eDrive40 nomenclature and promises a range of 475 kilometers on a single charge. The BMW i5 eDrive40 can output a peak power of 335 horsepower, and the 0-96 km/h acceleration takes only 5.7 seconds, and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels.

In international markets, there will also be an i5 M60 variant, which is more powerful. It produces a peak power of 592 bhp and can sprint from 0-96 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The i5 M60 is equipped with an all-wheel drive system and can travel 411 kilometers on a single charge.

The BMW i5 is equipped with a wide range of advanced features, many of which are powered by the automaker’s new OS 8.5 software. The first thing that catches the eye inside the car is the 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Just like the Tesla electric car, the BMW i5 will allow owners to access streaming services. They can play video games in the i5 sedan while the vehicle is parked. Another key feature of the upcoming BMW i5 is ADAS, which includes technologies such as hands-free driver assistance systems.
