After smartphones, TVs and vacuum cleaners, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is now poised to move into electric vehicles. Its first model, the MS11 sedan, will soon make its global debut. Ahead of its official unveiling, images of its first model have leaked online. The MS11 EV is expected to go into production sometime in 2024, with a design inspired by BYD’s Seal electric sedan that was recently shown at the 2023 Auto Expo. It was also influenced by other well-known global models.

The four-door electric sedan has sleek lines and an aerodynamic profile. The LED lights on the front of the car present a trident shape, giving people a domineering feeling. It’s similar to a McLaren 720S.

Mi MS11 has a large windshield, as well as a rather spacious side glass area. It also has a panoramic sunroof that extends to the rear. It has the Xiaomi logo in the center of the wheel and is fitted with yellow Brembo brake calipers. There’s also a LiDAR sensor on top of the windshield. The car has wide rear arches, and the cabin tapers slightly at the rear. The taillights have a similar design to that of an Aston Martin.

The leaked image doesn’t hint at its interior or technical specifications. Xiaomi is reportedly in the final stages of developing its first electric car. The car itself was seen several times on Chinese roads and during winter testing.

The Xiaomi MS11 electric car will be equipped with a self-developed motor, and the battery will be provided by CATL and BYD. The company has long boasted a range of 1,000 kilometers on a single charge. Whether it sticks to that number remains to be seen. Electric vehicles may be equipped with an 800-volt system that produces around 260 kilowatts of power.
