Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup Pravaig Dynamics will enter the electric passenger vehicle segment later this month with its first premium electric SUV, the Defy. The “flagship killer,” as EV startups like to call it, is due to be unveiled on Nov. 25, and its range and performance promises could even give some luxury EVs a run for their money. Pravaig has been teasing the Defy electric SUV for some time, revealing key performance figures ahead of its official unveiling.

Pravaig Dynamics will launch its first electric SUV, the Defy, in India on November 25, with a range of 504 kilometers on a single charge.

The Defy EV, a five-seat premium electric SUV, isn’t the startup’s first product. It earlier showed off its first electric sedan, called the Extinction MK1, which it says offers a range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge and a top speed of around 200 kilometers per hour. However, the two-door, four-seater EV has not been commercialized since its debut more than two years ago.

Based on information shared by Pravaig, the Defy electric SUV could match (if not better) some of its performance credentials. The company claims the EV will offer a range of 504 kilometers on a single charge. This could make it one of the longest-range EVs in India. The battery will be able to charge to 80% in just 30 minutes. That means the electric SUV is indeed equipped with DC fast charging.

Things get even better as Pravaig claims power and torque figures for the Defy. The EV startup claims the EV will deliver 402 hp and 620 Nm of peak torque. Power delivery is almost on par with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Kia EV6 or even the Audi e-tron electric SUV. The manufacturer says the electric SUV can reach a top speed of 210 km/h. What’s even more impressive about the electric SUV is that, according to the manufacturer, the electric SUV is capable of 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, almost as fast as some of the fastest EVs on Indian roads.

Pravaig said the Defy will feature on-board wifi, a 15-inch laptop desk, a limo divider, 220V sockets for charging devices, air quality index with PM 2.5 air filter, vanity mirror, premium sound system, USB sockets and wireless Charge. The screen will support MirrorLink. However, it’s important to note that the features of the production-spec electric SUV will be revealed after the vehicle’s launch.
