The GMC Hummer EV has garnered a fair amount of respect in the global EV scene with its big-bodied design straight out of combustion-engine-powered versions of SUVs. The American auto giant recently unveiled a new special edition EV, dubbed the Omega Edition, with an interstellar theme. The GMC Hummer EV Omega Edition is said to have been inspired by Neptune for its matte blue livery theme.
Outer space has always been in the DNA of the GMC Hummer EV. The automaker called the EV a moonshot at the car’s launch, a nod to NASA’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The car’s cabin also has Easter eggs influenced by outer space, such as a Sa of Tranquility topographic map and a Watts to Freedom launch control screen with a lunar surface display.

For the Omega Edition, GMC has heavily incorporated the interstellar theme in both the Hummer EV pickup truck and SUV. The special edition features a Neptune Blue matte finish inspired by the eighth factory, the automaker claims. The OEM also claims the EV has unique touches compared to the standard rubber floor mats, such as black exterior badging, 18-inch gloss black wheels, and plush carpet floor inserts. Additionally, the EV comes with a spare wheel cover that features a custom texture similar to Blue Planet.
GMC further stated that the Hummer EV Omega Edition will only be available in 3X trim and adds the Extreme Off-Road package as standard. This includes UltraVision underbody cameras, additional skid and rocker protection, built-in assist pedals, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels.
While these slew of cosmetic updates and features liven up the EV’s powertrain front end, the car remains the same. The EV has the same power and range as the standard model.
