Pune-based Tork Motors has announced revised prices for its Kratos R electric motorcycle following the revision of the FAME II subsidy for electric vehicles effective June 1. Tork Kratos R now sells for ¥187,000 (ex-showroom), which makes it ¥19,000 more than the old list price. That said, this is one of the lowest price increases for electric two-wheelers since the subsidy revision, with a significant portion of that being absorbed by companies.
Electric two-wheelers are now eligible for subsidies under the revised FAME II subsidy policy ¥10,000 per kilowatt-hour battery capacity compared to earlier ¥15,000 per kWh. Incentives are also capped at 15% of the total ex-factory price, compared with the previous cap of 40% of the ex-factory price. This means that Kratos R, earlier eligible for ¥60,000 rewards, now only get ¥22,500.it’s a deficit ¥37,500, only part of which was passed on to customers.

However, the revised price structure will also affect the upcoming Kratos X electric motorcycle, which is expected to offer more power, riding modes and visual upgrades. The Tork Kratos X was unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo and will debut later this year. It’s safe to say the price of X is probably closer to ¥The 200,000 mark is even surpassed. Meanwhile, Kratos Basic was discontinued earlier this year due to increased demand for the R version.
The Tork Kratos R is fitted with an axial flux PMS motor producing 12 bhp of peak torque and 38 Nm of torque. The electric motorcycle can do the 0-40 km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 105 km/h. The electric motorcycle is powered by a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides a range of 120km (true range) on a single charge in Eco mode, dropping to 100km in City mode and 70km in Sport mode . This model comes with a fast charging feature that helps the bike charge up to 80% in an hour.
The Tork Kratos R will soon face competition from Matter Aera geared electric motorcycles. The latter also received ¥30,000 Price increases due to revised subsidy standards ¥184k (ex-showroom) for 5000+ variants. The Aera has yet to start deliveries across India.
