Triumph Speed ​​400 and Scrambler 400 X: Engine and Transmission

Both motorcycles feature new TR-series engines. It was a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a cubic capacity of 398.15 cc. It puts out 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and peak torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch.

Both motorcycles share a peripheral frame, but different subframes. Suspension functions are performed by a large 43mm piston fork at the front and a gas-filled monoshock at the rear. However, the Scrambler 400 X has more suspension travel than the Speed ​​400.

Both motorcycles have a rear disc size of 230mm. However, the Scrambler 400 X features larger 320mm discs at the front compared to the 300mm discs on the Speed ​​400. Both motorcycles come standard with dual-channel ABS. On the Scrambler 400 X, however, it’s switchable.

The Speed ​​400 is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels front and rear. They will come with road tires, while the Scrambler 400 X will come with dual-purpose tires. The front alloys measure 19 inches and the rear alloys measure 17 inches.
