Triumph has launched the Speed 400 in the Indian market.motorcycles started in $$223,000 ex-showroom presentation for first 10,000 clients, after which price increases to $233,000 ex-showroom. This means the Speed 400 is the most affordable motorcycle in the Triumph range. The manufacturer is already taking pre-orders. The Speed 400 shares the same underpinnings as the upcoming Scrambler 400 X, both built by Bajaj Auto.
The Speed 400 features a new TR series engine. It was a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a cubic capacity of 398.15 cc. It puts out 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and peak torque of 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch. The engine is estimated to have a fuel efficiency of around 28 km/l.
In terms of functionality, the Speed 400 is equipped with an analog speedometer paired with a digital screen that can display various information. The motorcycle is equipped with switchable traction control, full LED lighting, anti-theft device and throttle-by-wire.
The Triumph uses a new perimeter frame with a bolt-on subframe suspended by large 43mm upside-down piston forks at the front and gas-filled monoshocks with preload adjustment at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 300 mm discs at the front and 230 mm at the rear.

The Speed 400 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear shod with road tyres. The Scrambler 400 X rides on larger 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 17-inch alloy wheels at the rear. Also, it uses dual purpose tires.

The Speed 400 was designed as a roadster, and the brand will also launch the Scrambler 400 X in October. It will feature more suspension travel and larger front discs. Beyond that, the front wheels measure 19 inches and feature switchable ABS.
