After a long wait, Triumph has finally launched their new motorcycles, the Speed ​​400 and Scrambler 400 X. Both motorcycles will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto and will be showcased in India on July 5. Triumph has started accepting online reservations for both motorcycles. Despite using the same approach, there are some differences between the Scrambler 400 X and the Speed ​​400. Below are the differences.

Both motorcycles share the same underpinnings. However, there are also some differences.

Triumph Speed ​​400 vs. Scrambler 400 X: Suspension Hardware

Both motorcycles feature 43mm upside-down big-piston forks at the front and gas-filled monoshocks with preload adjustment at the rear. The difference is between the suspension travel. The Speed ​​400 has 140mm of front and 130mm of rear travel. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, has 150mm of suspension travel at both ends.

Braking duties on the Speed ​​400 are handled by 300mm discs at the front, while the Scrambler 400 X uses larger 320mm discs at the front. Both motorcycles feature a 230mm disc at the rear.

The Speed ​​400 is a sports car and as such is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. The Scrambler 400 X, on the other hand, has 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 17-inch alloy wheels at the rear. Triumph offers switchable ABS on the Scrambler 400 X, which makes sense since the motorcycle can go off-road.

The Scrambler 400 X is slightly larger than the Speed ​​400. The Scrambler 400 X has a wheelbase of 1,418mm, while the Speed ​​400 has a wheelbase of 1,377mm. The Scrambler has a taller seat height of 835mm compared to the Speed ​​400’s 790mm. Then there is the weight, the Scrambler 400 X is 9kg heavier than the Speed ​​400.

The Scrambler 400 X rides on Metzeler Karoo Street dual-purpose tires, while the Speed ​​400 rides on Metzeler Sportec M9RR road tires.

There are some other differences between the motorcycles as well. The Scrambler 400 X comes with a headlight grille, radiator guard, oil pan guard, hand guards, handlebar mounts and a longer front fender.
