TVS iQube electric scooter hits 50,000 sales milestone since May 2022

Sales of TVS Motor Company’s first electric scooter, the iQube Electric Scooter, have surpassed the 50,000 unit milestone since the launch of the updated version in May 2022. The updated TVS iQube offers major improvements in performance, functionality and range. It comes in two variants – Standard and S, while the top ST variant is not yet on sale.

TVS says the iQube has received an overwhelming response from customers. “In this exciting electric vehicle journey, we have been inspired by three fundamental principles: giving our customers the ability to choose range, connectivity features, chargers and colors; delivering on the promise of delivery by adhering to the latest specifications and the overall buying experience and TVS iQube are easy to operate, effective and hassle-free, allowing you to use the vehicle with total peace of mind.”

The standard iQube and iQube S come with a 3.4 kWh battery pack and are said to have a true range of 100km, while the iQube ST has a larger 5.1 kWh battery pack with a range of 140km (claimed) on a single charge. The battery pack is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance and features an indigenous battery management system (BMS) and thermal management system.

Power comes from a hub-mounted BLDC (brushless direct current) electric motor producing 4.4 kW (6 bhp) and 140 Nm of peak torque. Standard and S versions have a top speed of 78 km/h, while the upcoming ST version has a top speed of 82 km/h. Other feature upgrades include a new idle mode for enhanced safety, 11 new color options, USB charging port, 5-inch TFT screen with turn-by-turn navigation on standard models and a larger 7-inch TFT screen on the iQube S Comes with an intuitive 5-way joystick for interaction.

The digital instrument cluster also includes controls for music controls, theme personalization, proactive notifications, and more. The upcoming iQube ST will also come with touch controls, 4G telematics and OTA updates, theme personalization, voice assistance and Alexa skillsets. TVS iQube series are sold in 106 cities across the country.

While iQube sales have been strong, the premium e-scooter segment also saw huge growth last year. Ola Electric’s S1 series sales crossed the 100,000 mark, while Ather Energy’s total sales rose 389% YoY. Sales are only expected to grow further as more players join the segment this year.
