With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles and the development of charging infrastructure, many environmentally conscious people are looking to buy a battery-powered car these days. However, range anxiety remains one of the biggest concerns holding them back from trying battery-powered vehicles. Automakers have been trying to address this problem by offering vehicles with longer ranges and faster recharging times.
Below is a list of some electric cars with decent range in the Indian market –
Tata Nexon EV Max (437 km)
While the Nexon EV Max looks identical to the Nexon EV from the outside, it comes with a power pack on the inside. Its larger battery gives it a range of over 400 kilometers per charge and is ARAI certified. A full charge can be achieved in 6 to 7 hours using a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. The Nexon EV Max also supports faster charging times of less than an hour when using a 50 kW DC fast charger.
MG ZS EV (461 km)
MG Motor India updated the ZS EV in March last year with an improved range of 461 kilometers per charge under ideal conditions. It has a 50.3 kWh battery pack and has an IP69 water resistance rating. The electric motor inside the ZS EV is capable of generating 176 Ps of power and helps the car accelerate from standstill to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 (631 km)
The premium electric car was officially launched at the 2023 Auto Expo. It’s based on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which also underpins the Kia EV6. Its large 72.6 kWh battery pack helps deliver an ARAI-certified range of 631 kilometers in ideal conditions. Hyundai claims it can charge an EV from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger.
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV (857 km)
The luxury SUV comes with a massive 107.8 kWh battery pack and claims a range of 857 kilometers on a single charge. It takes approximately 30 minutes to charge an electric SUV from 10% to 80% using a DC fast charger with a supply voltage of 400 V and a minimum current of 500 A. Its electric motor delivers a power output of 523 hp, while the EV reaches a top speed of 210 km/h.
Audi e-tron GT (388-500 km)
The all-electric car from Audi’s e-tron range comes with a standard 93 kWh battery pack, which helps it provide a range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. It offers a power output of 530 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.
