Yamaha Motor has updated the R3 in Japan for 2023. The Yamaha R3 is one of several new premium motorcycles that the Japanese two-wheeler giant recently showcased to its Indian dealers. R3 was once sold in China, but it was removed from the shelves later. Nonetheless, the motorcycle is expected to make a comeback soon, possibly with the latest update in the MY2023 edition.
The 2023 Yamaha R3 has been slightly revised for the new model year. The updated model gets new sleek LED indicators borrowed from larger Yamaha motorcycles. Plus, there’s a new shade of purple that will quickly grab your attention.

2023 Yamaha R3 retains the same 321 cc Euro5 compliant parallel twin motor
Power for the 2023 Yamaha R3 comes from the same 321 cc parallel-twin electric motor tuned to 41 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 29.5 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is backed by a diamond frame with a 37mm USD fork and a KYB rear with a preload-adjustable monoshock.
Other hardware parts include full LED lighting, LCD instrument panel, slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS and more. The R3 has always been more of a sport wagon, with more comfortable ergonomics and a free-revving engine that makes it a fantastic mile muncher. The new R3 has received a design overhaul compared to the previous model sold in India, in line with the larger R7 in the brand’s stable.

Upon arrival, the Yamaha R3 will take on the KTM RC 390, rekindling an old rivalry. It will also compete with the BMW G 310 RR, TVS Apache RR 310, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Kawasaki Ninja 400. Pricing is crucial to the R3, and we don’t expect it to be as affordable as the single-cylinder engine. The model is likely to arrive via the complete knockdown (CKD) route.
