Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India have launched a new 100 cc commuter motorcycle in the Indian market.It’s called the Shine 100, and the entry price is ¥64,900 ex-showroom. Reservations for motorcycles are already open. This motorcycle is specially designed for everyday use in urban traffic. It targets rural and semi-urban markets. The motorcycle will compete with motorcycles like the Hero Splendor Plus, Bajaj Platina 100 and TVS Star City Plus.
The Honda Shine 100 features a new 100 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. It also gets fuel injection and eSP for better fuel efficiency. Needless to say, the engine complies with the upcoming new BS6 RDE specification. The fuel pump is located outside the fuel tank and has an automatic choke system. It produces 7.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 8.05 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
The motorcycle has a ground clearance of 168 mm. Design-wise, the Shine 100 looks like a smaller version of the Shine 125. It will be available in five color options. The Shine 100 features a front cowl, blacked-out alloy wheels, aluminum armrests and sleek mufflers. Available in black with red stripes, black with blue stripes, black with green stripes, black with gold stripes and black with gray stripes.
HMSI also offers a special 6 year warranty package for the Shine 100 (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty). The motorcycle has a class-leading 1.9-meter turning radius. The Shine 100 has a seat height of 786mm and is equipped with a Combined Brake System (CBS) with equalizer. A side-mounted engine cut-off is also available.
