Chinese automaker Wuling has unveiled a new electric hatchback called the Bingo, and one of the highlights of the new product is the option of an inflatable air bed. The Wuling Bingo looks like an interesting little electric hatchback aimed at urban female buyers in China, and will be the manufacturer’s new flagship EV. It will make its public debut next month at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Wuling Bingo is produced by three joint ventures of SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGWM). The newly released images of the electric hatch show a good-looking cabin with Mercedes-style dual screens on the dashboard. The seats are covered with faux leather upholstery, while everything in the cabin follows a circular and curvaceous theme. The steering wheel is also thick, round and retro. The infotainment screen also integrates a digital assistant and will likely offer a number of connectivity options. The drive selector and electronic handbrake are located between the front seats, while the open space between the seats frees up a considerable amount of space.

The back is where things get interesting. Wuling is equipped with flexible rear seats, which can be folded down independently, releasing about 790 liters of storage space. As part of its official accessories catalog, the automaker offers a range of accessories including collapsible storage boxes, camping kits, lamps and radios. There’s also a child car seat designed specifically for the Bingo’s rear seat, according to the company. In keeping with the camping vibe, the company will also offer an optional inflatable bed with bingo so you can get a good night’s sleep outdoors.

Chinese automakers are making a splash with non-car-related accessories, especially as more urban buyers consider lifestyle options like road trips and camping. The air mattress becomes a handy accessory. Also, you get a set of small pillows and a radio to perhaps brighten the mood.

The Wuling Bino is about the size of a premium hatchback in India. It measures 3,950mm long, 1,708mm wide and 1,580mm high. The wheelbase is 2,560mm. Power comes from a single electric motor that uses a 17.3 kWh battery to develop 40 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The company claims a range of 203 km under the China Light Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) and a top speed of 100 km/h. There’s also a more powerful option, with 67 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque, and a 31.9 kWh battery pack. Top speed is still limited to 100km/h, but it can travel 333km (CLTC) on a single charge.

The price in China is expected to be RMB 70,000-100,000 (approx. ¥829 thousand – ¥1.16 million), when the Bingo EV will go on sale later this year.
